We were invited to Mintie's 80th Birthday party on Saturday!
We had never met Mintie before, but her daughter and grand daughter invited us to go to the party and said that Mintie would be delighted to have the missionaries there! We have been wanting to go up to Tolaga Bay, Tokomaru Bay, and Waipero Bay, but haven't made it up there for a few weeks.
We decided it would be a great opportunity to meet some of the people in the branches up the coast.
The girls were right....Mintie was THRILLED to have the missionaries come to her party!
She gave a speech before she cut the cake and thanked us several times for coming.
She referred to us as her "Honored Guests"! Ha!
We had a great time visiting and getting to know her friends and family.
We even challenged some of her less active grand-daughters to go to church with us!
We had a lot of fun teasing and laughing with them.
They told us that they would go to church IF WE would drive up the coast to their branch.
We're on it!!!
Can't wait!
There were 80 balloons floating around the room.
As the day went on...the balloons started disappearing.
The kids were snatching them up, one by one.
They were sucking the helium out of them! Ha!
Kids are the same, no matter where you go!
These are the Tehays girls. They live in Waipero Bay. Their dad is in the branch presidency.
Their older sister is in the Sendai Japan mission with our nephew, Blake Ovard.
Blake is her zone leader....small world, huh?
These girls have the most beautiful voices!
They sang a song for Mintie before she cut the cake...

Nara, (Mintie's grand daughter) Mintie, and Christine (Mintie's daughter)
Whai, Nara, Mintie, Hicku, and Christine
We are teaching the lessons to Whai and Hicku.
Reuben and Nara (their parents) are awesome!
We LOVE this family!
We always go off and explore as we drive to new places....
We took a side road on the way to Mintie's party....
This was a cool old building at an OLD port in Tokomaru Bay.
