Two weeks worth of pictures...

Lonne had Lexie send him his rope.  It has been sitting in the boot (trunk) of the car ever since.

The other day he broke it out to show the Hayward boys how to rope.

They had a lot of fun with it...roping a chair in the back yard.

Their mom, Nara, was hooked immediately! She was a natural!

After we left their house, she was roping their dog, Thomas!

Poor Thomas!  Ha!

This is Lonne teaching some of the guys in the ward.

They liked it so much that one of them is ordering a rope just like Lonne's!

They don't have those kind of ropes over here....we've heard there is a rodeo in Gisborne

in December.  We will check it out... if we're still here!!

HAKA is one of our investigators.

It was his 18th birthday last Monday, so I made him a coconut cake.

I had made the same kind of cake once before when they invited us over for tea (dinner). 

He loved it so much, so I made him one of his own.

When he took a bite of it, he said,

"This cake reminds me of the white fruit on the tree in that dream  

we talked about in Sunday School. 

It' tastes so beautiful, I just want to keep eating it!" (Lehi's dream)

It was so cute!

NELL (below) is one of our less active members.  She lives on a farm outside of Gisborne.

We went to visit her one day while she was feeding her chickens.  We couldn't believe

how beautiful and big the chickens were! I just had to take a picture of them!

The picture just doesn't do them justice! I'm not really into chickens, but these chickens were beautiful!

Frances and Peter Burt have a mandarin orchard. They have 1400 mandarin trees.

We offered to help them pick mandarins on our P-day.

It was alot of fun.  They had hired some of the girls in the ward.

There were mandarins flying everywhere! Mmmmmm they are sooooo good!!

Two weeks ago, on our P-day, Frances and Peter Burt took us on a little hike up to 

some water falls near Gisborne.  It was beautiful!  We decided it would be a great place

to take some investigators for a lesson on the restoration.  As soon as it warms up a 

little more, we are going to do just that!

 We traveled to Hamilton last week to the temple to attend the temple with all of the missionaries in

the south end of the Auckland NZ mission.  We had a great time.

Below is a picture of us with the Hardys.  They are the cutest couple from

northeren Utah.  We have a lot of fun with them. 

They work in the Visitors Center in Hamilton.  

We stayed an extra night in Hamilton so that we could go visit one of our investigators, Daleann.

She has been in the hospital in Hamilton for a few weeks.  She was 7 months pregnant and her water broke!  She has been trying to keep that baby in the oven as long as possible!  They finally gave her an emergency C-section last Sunday.  Her little baby girls was born 7 weeks early, but seems to be 

doing really well.  Her little lungs aren't developed, so they have to stay in Hamilton at the hospital

until she is off the ventilator and is gaining weight.  Meanwhile, Daleann is going stir crazy at the hospital.  She is staying in the building where moms can stay for a long period of time..kind of like a motel.  We visited her at the hospital and while we we were there, she mentioned that she had been able to see the temple from her room at night.  She said she had never seen the temple before and wished she could go there.  So we stayed an extra night after our temple day, and kidnapped Daleann, and took her to the temple, and to the visitor's center.  She absolutely loved it!  They have lots of new features including a TV with an ipad to watch the "I'm a Mormon" videos from Mormon.org.  She wanted to stay and watch a movie, but we really needed to get her back to the hospital to be with the baby, so we arranged for someone in the Hamilton are to go pick her up this week to take her back to watch a movie or two, and spend some more time at the temple grounds.  We haven't heard from her for a few days...

I hope it all worked out!  She told us that the missionaries in Hamilton wanted to baptize her, but she told them,"No way! I prayed to God, and he told me the only one to baptize me is Elder Gubler, so I will just wait till I get back to Gisborne!"  We thought that was so cute.

We had a ward activitity a few days ago...

This is Brother and Sister Aban.

They are some of our favorite people in the ward.

He's in our stake presidency.

We had a couple's dinner date with some of our less active couples, the bishop & his wife, and the

ward mission leader.  We had a great time eating Thai food and watching the All Blacks play Rugby

in the World Cup.  We are LOVING Rugby!

Some of our Tongan friends in the ward were headed to a funeral after church, so they

wore their Tongan handmade clothes to church.  I loved it and had to get a picture of them!

Rewi, Megan and family...we had Family Home Evening with this cute family on Monday night.

They invited us over for Nachos.  Their little girl, Winona Jo, planned the lesson.

It was so cute.  It was about Noah's Ark.  We had a great time.
