Kesharn's Baptism
Kesharn is a little girl in our ward. Her parents asked us if we could teach her more about the gospel and the importance of baptism. They weren't very active in the church, and they felt like she needed to learn alot more before she made the decision to be baptized. We taught her for about a month and then waited for her dad to baptize her. He recently had surgery on his knee,
so we needed to wait for it to heal up!
They asked Lonne and I to speak at the baptism....it was a really nice meeting.

Our Ward sent us a whole bunch of baptism clothes!
We needed them so very badly here in the Gisborne Stake! The dress was perfect!

Sister Sherwood's 100th Birthday Party
Sister Sherwood is the sweetest little lady in our ward. She turned 100 years old this week!
Our ward celebrated by inviting the whole stake to a birthday party for her at the church.
It was such a well-planned activity!
Several different groups performed with songs and dances, etc.
Sister Sherwood loved it!
The Mayor of Gisborne even came and presented her with a certificate of honor.
Gail Cross is the sweetest little deaf lady in our ward. She writes us letters and sends them to us in the mail. She sings in the choir...well she doesn't really sing, but she "Lips" the songs with the choir.
She bears her testimony almost every month in sign language and with her own sweet little language.
She is a convert to the church and loves the gospel so much. She is so sweet! She wanted a picture with us at the birthday party. I can't wait to print it for her and take it to her house....she's going to love it!
This was a group of older folks from some of the branches on the East Coast.
They sang a medly of songs for Sister Sherwood. It was really cute:)
The Tongan and Samoan Sisters did a performance together.
I'm always a little partial to the Islanders....I love their dances, and their clothes!
The Gisborne 1st ward has quite a few Tongans and one Samoan family.
I love to hear them sing!!! They are amazing!!!
Savali (in the middle) is from Samoa....her family was all baptized last year.
I thought it was so cute that she and her mom did the performance with the Tongans...
Then they all changed their clothes and did a Samoan dance!
I loved how they supported each other's cultures!

Fireworks and Car Races
The Burdett family and the Hayward family invited us to the Fireworks
at the Speedway in Gisborne. It was Guy Fawkes Day in New Zealand.
I'm not sure what Guy Fawkes Day is...I think they celebrate the death of Guy Fawkes because he tried to assassinate the King long long ago. They have big fireworks displays all over the country...
kind of like the 4th of July, but not nearly as big.
We went to the speedway and watched the car races first...it was WILD!
We had so much fun! There were little cars, and demolition type cars...
it was a HOOT!! We had a great time...but it was FREEZING!!!!

Teaching The Gospel
Tania and her Girls are our new investigators!
Tania is a single mom..they live right next door to the Elders.
We are so excited about this family! We are taking them to church with us for the first time
this coming Sunday. We have taught them two lessons...and she is soaking it all in.
Her girls are DARLING!!
They greeted us at the door with a dish full of chocolate chip cookies
that they had made for us! Soooo sweet:)
We hope we can help this family find some peace and happiness:)
They are searching for a new life....
We know the gospel of Jesus Christ will help them so much!
Tania broke down in tears at our first lesson. She was so touched by the spirit!
I can't wait to see how this all turns out:)

What a fun post! I can't believe all the lives you have touched. The way you are making a difference, and leading by example. You and Lonne are amazing! Wow, looks like you guys have a lot going on! That's awesome. Those little cars look fun. That sweet little old lady that just turned 100 looks so happy!! Can you imagine all the things she's seen throughout her life!! We love to see all your new pictures. We miss and love you.
