Silina, Jacob, and Mark
We LOVE this family sooooo much! Silina and Mark are converts to the church. Mark is a surfer...the funniest guy I have ever met. Not a worry or care in the world. Silina calls him Peter Pan. It's a perfect name for him....he doesn't ever want to grow up! Ha! Love that guy!!!
Mark was scared to death to baptize his son, Jacob (9)...and Jacob was scared to be baptized. They are both very shy, and they were afraid lots of people would want to come. Well, lots of people did WANT to come, because everyone loves them...but we arranged for a PRIVATE little baptism. It was just Lonne, Me, the Bishop, Silina, Mark and Jacob. Lonne andI gave the talks, the Bishop gave the prayer, and Jacob picked his two favorite songs. It was awesome!! Mark baptized and confirmed Jacob a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He did a beautiful job! I think he was so happy and proud of himself. He tried to get Lonne to do the confirmation, but we FINALLY talked him into doing it himself. We were so proud of him. We took them out to dinner after the baptism. We had Jacob pick anywhere he wanted to go.......Burger King! Ha! Gotta love kids!!
We are teaching this cute family about the Temple...we are hoping to go to the temple with them before we get transferred. Silina would go tomorrow...but Mark isn't quite ready. He's a little apprehensive.
This family has seen the blessings the gospel has brought into their lives. They have an incredible story
They've hit rock bottom, to say the least....but when they turned their lives around, the blessings have been pouring out to them. If we don't accomplish ONE other thing on this mission, but getting Jacob baptized and getting this family to the temple, this 18 months away from home will be worth it!
I'm crossing my fingers., crossing my toes, and saying my prayers......
A Happy Day!
We are going to miss our little (grandson) Cam's baptism next month at home...
I thought of Cam throughout Jacob's baptism meeting.
NOTHING could ever ever replace not being there with Cam,
but this baptism came close:)

Right out side our back door...
A duck landed in the pool at the apartment ...
It swam around, ducked its head in and out of the water,
trying to find something....anything to eat.
He searched the whole pool...
nothing.
So after an hour or so, he flew away.

What a neat baptism! I LOVED hearing all about it! He is a cute little boy! I hope that you can get them to the temple. That would be so neat. Did you make the CTR cake for Jacob? It is cute!
